KENDRA Kenney

Favorite Part of Job: Its variation. Every day I get to meet new people, engage clients with various needs and goals, and explore different and ever changing properties. Each day brings new challenges and opportunities and I am constantly kept on my toes. The team at Donahue & Associates is tremendously supportive and they have cultivated an amazing office atmosphere that I am so thankful to be a part of.

Most Inspiring Mentor: Meg McGovern, Senior Associate at Donahue & Associates, is a truly inspiring mentor. We actually met because I cold-called Meg to invite her to coffee when I was first looking for a job in Burlington. We have been fast friends ever since! Meg is such an empowering women to work with; she is extremely well connected in the community and is always willing to share contacts, leads and her extensive knowledge of the Vermont market. Meg is always available to lend a hand, teach me something new or just listen when I need career advice. She is extremely generous and constantly giving back to the community. I feel truly lucky to get to work with and learn from Meg on a daily basis.

Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: This September I completed my first trail running ultra-marathon. I ran 50K in the Vermont50 trail running/mountain bike race at Ascutney Mt. Race proceeds benefit Vermont Adaptive, which is a ski and sports organization empowering individuals with disabilities. I didn’t tell any of my friends or family I was competing because I was so nervous I wouldn’t make it!

Favorite Vermont Escape: Crossfit Burlington. I promise I am not a crazy gym junkie, but since moving back to Vermont from Boston and joining Crossfit Burlington I have truly grown to love the sport and community. Even after a long day of work I am always excited to go and see friendly faces who are all there to support and challenge one another.

Favorite downtime activity: Trail running at Saxon Hill or any of the great trail circuits in the area. Trail running is such a nice escape from all the distractions of day-to-day life; it’s quiet, peaceful and usually has a beautiful view along the way! I also get to bring my two dogs, Kiska and Corbet, who could not be happier to spend a few hours exploring the woods.

Favorite Social Media: Instagram. I am not very involved in Facebook or Twitter, but I love seeing what friends and family are up to via Instagram.

What is the best career advice you have received? Life is too short to spend all day doing something that doesn’t interest you. Your 20’s are for exploring your options and figuring out what you are passionate about. Nancy Kenney (my mom).
