Favorite part of job?
I love the relationships with my clients. Financial planning has evolved over the decades and today, as an independent broker / dealer in Vermont, I am able to forge “familial” relationships with my clients that will last for years to come and hopefully span generations.

Most inspiring mentor?
I’m in the enviable position of working with my father, Don, and being able to learn from both his successes and mistakes in the thirty years since he opened the doors of D.B. McKenna & Co., Inc. Dad strives to be the best person he can be, and expects no less of me, both professionally and personally. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience and is always willing to provide the advice and direction I’m willing to receive, be it in his office for lunch, on the golf course, or when I give him a call in the evening with a question. In my eyes, he is not only an inspiration, but also an aspiration.

Who is your living hero?
I grew up watching my father work tirelessly to create a successful business from the ground up, be a loving father, and a devoted husband. A balancing act I’m only now starting to truly appreciate. Today he is lucky enough to work with two of his sons and spend time with his family, which has grown to include four daughters-in-law and seven grandchildren. He continues to approach each day with vigor and integrity. At an age when most men are retired he is focused on bettering himself and his business.

Favorite downtime activity?
Spending time with my wife and two daughters, brewing beer, and golfing.

Favorite Vermont Escape?
An early round of golf at the Mount Anthony Country Club. Nothing beats watching the sun rise as you’re alone on the golf course with nothing but your thoughts.

Favorite social network?
The Notre Dame Alumni Association - Regardless of where you are in the world you are never out of reach of the Notre Dame Alumni Network. Personally or professionally, the Notre Dame Alumni Network is there when you need it or when you’re able to give back.

Favorite website?
www.NDNation.com - A website for the Notre Dame alumni community and “super-fans”.

Vermont Business Person you would most want to network with?
Former Governor Jim Douglas.

VBM's Publisher John Boutin, Brian McKenna and Lt. Governor Phil Scott.
