CHRIS Adams

Favorite Part of Job? With Capital Connections, my favorite part is the team of people I work with and the strategy development that goes into various projects. In coaching, my favorite part is the day to day interaction with student-athletes and ultimately seeing them grow up, move on and do good things with their lives. Though I'm not there on a daily basis, the best part about helping at the fire department is the camarderie with the other guys and knowing that the department serves the public in the most critical of times.

Most Inspiring Mentor: In my personal life I'd say my grandfather, who successfully started and built his own business, my dad and brother who are both career firefighters and have sacrificed their own safety for others and my mom who, as a labor and delivery nurse, has helped bring so many children into this world. From a career perspective I'd say all of my co-workers from my time at CVPS - these were some of the hardest-working, most unselfish and down-to-earth people I've ever been around. Lastly, my old fishing buddy Gordie Anderson who passed away in 2008 - he always had an excitement for life and he really had an impact on me.

Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: I am an avid tournament angler and have fished against some of the top professionals in the world over the past five years or so.

Favorite Downtime Activity: Bass fishing on Lake Champlain; Deer hunting; Playing Golf; Spending time with my fiance Julia and our black lab, Bauer.

Favorite Vermont Escape: Lake Champlain - the Islands area or the main lake around Shelburne; Also, our family camp in the Green Mountains.

Favorite Social Media: Facebook, with LinkedIn a close second.

Favorite Website: RutlandHerald.com; BurlingtonFreePress.com; BassFan.com; Vermontbiggametrophyclub.com

Vermont Business Person you would most want to Network with: The Casella brothers who are Rutland people like me and who successfully built two great businesses from humble beginnings - I have a lot of respect for what they've done. I'd also like to network with Lyndon State College graduate Mark Valade, who is now the President of Carhartt - I love their products!

Career Highlights: Serving as an intern at CVPS and the US Forest Service.
Coaching hockey at Rutland High School for five years.
Serving as a call-firefighter at RCFD.
Being hired at CVPS and working with an amazing team of co-workers including both back office and field staff who I have great respect for
Serving as a board member of the Rutland Community Cupboard for two years.
Joining Capital Connections, LLC and learning from Shawn Shouldice and her talented team of professionals.

Community Involvement: Former board member of the Rutland Community Cupboard.
Coaching high school hockey and helping out with Rutland Amateur Hockey Association youth teams.
Helping coordinate / organize various record-setting Rutland area food and blood drives; Also coordinating environmental clean-up projects in Rutland County.
Helping out at RCFD during general alarm calls
Writing articles for Vermont's Great Outdoors Magazine to help promote the outdoor recreation opportunities here in Vermont and share my knowledge of fishing.
