FRANCES Sun

37 | Rutland Regional Medical Center | Administrative Coordinator, Medical Assistant
Residence: Rutland

Career highlight(s): The career highlight I'm most proud of is leading the Vaccination Clinic for Rutland Regional Medical Center at the Holiday Inn. It was such a wonderful and rewarding thing to be a part of, and I feel so grateful to my amazing team for showing up and working so hard for their community every day.

Community Involvement: My community involvement includes board representation for Rutland Young Professionals, RYP Rep on the CEDRR Board, being a foster parent and an advocate for vulnerable people in whatever way I can.

What motivated you to live and work in Vermont? I was motivated to live and work in Vermont by the scrappy, never-give-up attitude of Rutland in particular. My husband and I thought we'd move here for a year, and 6 years later we're still here with no plans to move.

Favorite part of your job: My favorite part of my job is problem solving - whether it's how to help a child feel more calm and safe in the ED, or how to make sure floor nurses are feeling better supported and more secure in their processes. Making all the people I come into contact with at RRMC feel better when I leave the room is my goal.

Most inspiring mentor and why: My most inspiring mentor is Amy Martone, Director of Nursing Excellence at RRMC. She is an incredible leader, for whom there are no stupid questions, nothing is too much trouble, and who leads with grace, compassion, patience, clarity and strength. She's an incredible nurse, and I hope to be just like her when I graduate.

Favorite Super Hero and why: My favorite super hero is Captain Marvel. She isn't here to play, and when she stops doubting herself she's unstoppable. She ALWAYS gets back up.

Person you would most like to share a Vermont beverage with: The person I'd most like to share a Vermont beverage with is my best friend, Kate. We both have challenging jobs and it's great to just kick back and laugh ourselves silly.

If you had unlimited access to funds, which cause(s) would you support:
The cause I would support is reproductive access and rights. This cause is incredibly important to me and I regularly donate to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund & PPNNE.
