KATHERINE Brady

34 | RNL & Associates | Financial Advisor

Residence: Rutland

Career highlight(s): The career highlight I'm most proud of is obtaining my Certified Financial Planner designation.  The course of study is a multi-year endeavor with multiple exams. Only 60% of test takers pass the exam. 23% of CFP holders are female and 27% are under the age of 40. With only 158 total in the state of Vermont, I am proud to be one.

Community Involvement: My favorite community service activities are those that are for my children, or able to be done with them.  I also love the community service day our company has.  It gives us a day to give back to the community as a group and make an impact.

What motivated you to live and work in Vermont? I was motivated to live and work in Vermont by growing up here and never being anywhere else that felt as comfortable.  Being in a community where my commute is 2 miles, barely any traffic, and beautiful scenery is about as good as it gets.

Favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is the people I get to work with and the customers I get to work for. Not a day goes by that I am not challenged to learn something new or think about a situation in a new, creative way.

What is the best career advice you have received? The best career advice I have received is that every detail matters.  The smell of your office, your tone of voice, the smile on your face, your timeliness, your compassion, your ability to listen, to connect, and empathize.  Everything you do makes an impression on people and it all matters.

Tell us something fun about yourself that few people know: Few people know that I love to bake. cakes, cookies, cupcakes, macarons, I love it all.

What three words best describe you: Three words that best describe me are driven, understanding, dependable.

If you had unlimited access to funds, which cause(s) would you support: The cause I would support is helping youth in the foster system.  Every child deserves a warm, loving home to go to every night.

What one song is on your playlist that are you embarrassed to tell your best friend: The song on my playlist I would be embarrassed to tell my best friend is Build me up Buttercup by The Foundations

How has your job changed since this pandemic? During the pandemic, my job has changed drastically in some respects and not at all in others.  When everything shut down in March I was at home working while my two children were trying to remote learn from home as well.  What didn't change was the needs of our clients for help and guidance.
