Catamount Solar is a local, Vermont-based, member-owned worker’s cooperative specializing in affordable, high-quality solar power system design and solar installation services. In 2011 we were established as an LLC organized as a worker’s cooperative.  Rather than employees, all company workers are members of the cooperative, sharing its ownership responsibilities and receiving compensation dependent on company profit, and in proportion to their contributed labor.  We provide the opportunity to become an employee-owner of the company & thereby have a say in decision-making and receive profit sharing. Countryside Alarms is a Fire & Security Alarm company. Our company is a full service operation from the distribution of product to contractors and alarm companies, to the central station which provides the monitoring. We handle everything in between: Design/Build, Installations, Service, and Inspections. Our products are Honeywell, which are American made. We are a family-owned and family-focused company. Our management team will help employees during tough times. We provide subsidized, quality, secure apartments for employees and families on premises with six acres of green space to play, bike, walk, even garden. We provide in-office training and pay for continued training. The majority of our employees have been taken from low wage jobs and retrained by Countryside for quality wage jobs. In order to help our family of employees, we allow for children to be at the work place.

20) Basin Harbor

Basin Harbor Club was established in 1886 by Ardelia Beach and has remained family owned for 130 years. Today, guests are greeted by fourth generation hosts, Pennie Beach and Robert H. Beach, Jr. and fifth generation Sarah Morris, Director of Sales. Originally a 225-acre working farm catering to summer boarders, the resort has expanded to cover 700 acres on Lake Champlain, encompassing the main lodge, cottages, a private golf course, spectacular gardens, a 3,200 foot grass airstrip and serving food grown by Vermont farmers.

9) Vermont Information Processing, Inc.

VIP was founded in 1973 as a data collection and processing company. VIP keyed clients’ sales from paper invoices into a computer and provided clients with summarized sales reports. As computers became more affordable to individual businesses, VIP expanded its own in-house software and sold the product as the VIP Route Accounting System. As a specialist in the beverage industry, VIP has developed a complete software package that is second to none in meeting the specific needs of beverage distributors/bottlers. VIP has developed solutions for all three tiers of the beverage industry. In 2002, VIP started developing software solutions for suppliers.  VIP currently collects data and provides solutions for over 100 suppliers. City Market, Onion River Co-op, is a 16,000 sq. ft. community-owned food cooperative located in beautiful downtown Burlington, Vermont.
