Favorite part of job? My favorite part of my job is when I hear about someone making more sustainable choices in their personal life based on what they have learned from our environmental programs.  It is my job to continually pursue more environmentally friendly business practices for Stratton but it is moving when I realize that it just isn’t within our walls that people are making better choices.

Most inspiring mentor? I don’t know that there is just one person I would consider a mentor.  I like being inspired by anyone and everyone around me.  I think the personal interactions and relationships I have shape me every day.

Who is your living hero? Professionally my living hero is Yvon Chouinard, Founder of Patagonia.  He found a way to take his passion, make it better as a whole and use what he learned to create global change.  In life I have to say my family.  Although it may seem cliché they have always been my strength.

Favorite downtime activity? I love spending time outdoors with my pup- Snowshoeing in the winter or going to the local pond to walk and swim in the summer

Favorite Vermont Escape?  I love escaping to our Nordic Center here at Stratton.  As a side project last winter I facilitated reopening our warming hut.  I found it to be my escape.  Whether it’s during our hours the winter and I can get out for a ski or snowshoe or in the summer when we have our employee garden, it is a place I love to visit.   There is a beautiful stream, stonewalls from an old settlement, a cemetery that dates back to the 1800s and flora and fauna abound.  It is right around the corner and yet feels a world away.

Favorite social network? Facebook

Favorite website? Gardeners.com.  As someone new to the vegetable gardening world I turn to this website as my gardening bible.  I know spring is in the air when I stop by gardeners.com for the first time and take advantage of the Garden Planner.  I love winter but always look forward to gardening season.

Vermont Business Person you would most want to network with? Jan Blittersdorf and David Blittersdorf, Founders of NRG Systems.  Having visited their Hinesburg facility as part of my Sustainable Business Class at UVM I was very inspired. From catered lunches, to their resident cat, to their incentive program for employees to purchase renewable energy systems of their own it is obvious they have a multi-faceted value system that is a model for other businesses.
