Vermont Mutual Insurance Group is the winner of the prestigious and highly anticipated Deane C Davis Outstanding Business of the Year Award, 2017. Vermont Business Magazine and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce announced the annual award May 24, during the opening ceremonies of the Vermont Business Expo at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Burlington.

Presented by Governor Phil Scott, this annual award honors a Vermont business that shows an outstanding history of sustained growth while displaying an acute awareness of what makes Vermont unique. The award, named for the former governor of Vermont, was created 28 years ago by Vermont Business Magazine and the Vermont Chamber of Commerce to recognize and honor the state’s best companies.

Vermont Mutual President and CEO Dan Bridge accepted the award on behalf of his Montpelier-based firm and especially thanked the Vermont customers and independent insurance agents for being great customers and clients for nearly 200 years.

“It really is important to buy local," he said.

Vermont Mutual Insurance Group was chartered in 1828 and is one of the ten oldest property/casualty insurers in the United States.
