Career highlight you are most proud of.
Returning to my alma mater, the University of Vermont, to help build Discovery and Innovation halls as part of the $80 million UVM STEM Complex construction. The teamwork and collaboration between the clients and the design and trade partners was amazing; we were able to win several national industry awards for our work on the project.

Community involvement.
Mentoring students of all ages (elementary through college) about careers in STEM and the construction trades. This includes everything from leading in-class engineering activities to walking students around the jobsite and explaining what we do day-to-day. I am also fortunate to join my wife in her family-owned tree care business, DJ’s Tree Service, in many events for children, including Touch-a-Truck and Troy’s Toy Drive.Motivation for living and working in Vermont. The state’s unique beauty and pace of life. Now that my wife and I are raising a family in Vermont, it is difficult to imagine living anywhere else.

Favorite part of your job.
Being able to set the strategy and build relationships while we pursue major projects across Vermont and the United States. It is great to work with growing clients and organizations and help them build their vision in a hands-on way.

Best career advice you have received.
I was once told by a former business leader to embrace free and abstract thinking. This was contrary in many ways to engineer thinking practices and has always stuck with me.

Something fun about yourself that few people know.
I made my first trip to India when I was a less than a year old, and have made more than 10 trips there since then. Looking forward to bringing my wife and kids to visit at some point soon.

Three words that best describe you.
Caring, analytical and generous.

Favorite Vermont escape.
Spending time with family and friends at camp in the Northeast Kingdom. We enjoy hanging out by the bonfire; hiking Mount Pisgah and other amazing hikes in the area; enjoying Lake Willoughby; snowmobiling; visiting breweries like Hill Farmstead, etc.

Favorite social media.
I have been on Reddit for 13 years, but I’m very much a lurker and not an active poster or commenter.

Favorite smell.
Snowmobiles warming up on a sunny winter day!

Career goal you would like to accomplish in the next five to 10 years.
To play a large role in my company’s growth into new (and reemergence in some past) construction markets like airports; food and beverage; and renewable energy.
